Dr Dhruba Purkayastha is a Sustainable Development and Climate Finance Expert with over 30 years of experience spanning International Development, Management Consulting, Financial Advisory, Research, and Public Policy. He has worked with leading global and Indian institutions on Climate, Energy Transition, and Sustainability, including the World Bank Group, Climate Policy Initiative, and CEEW, and has led Climate and Transition Finance initiatives in India for the Ministry of Finance, NITI Aayog, and the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).He currently serves as Senior Programme Adviser to the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago in India (EPIC India), Adviser - Energy and Climate at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), and Climate Finance Expert to the Standing Committee on Finance under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change He is also a Senior Fellow with the Industrial Transition Accelerator, Mission Possible Partnership and a Visiting Professor in Practice at the Grantham Research Institute, London School of Economics, and teaches Climate Finance and Economics at IIM Calcutta.Dhruba mentors climate-focused startups and initiatives, and advises research and advisory institutions including Climate and Sustainability Initiative, EnDecarb AI – a Climate Risk AI Platform, and Infrablocks Capital Energy Transition Fund, an Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) focused on financing energy transition projects in India.Dhruba holds an engineering degree, an MBA from IIM Calcutta, and a PhD from IIT Delhi.
