ABOUT DHINESH MUTHUKUMARASAMY
I\'m a Biomedical Engineering Master\'s candidate specializing in laser light delivery and optical system development for medical devices. My work sits at the intersection of photonics, fiber optics and practical medical innovation.Over the past year, I\'ve designed and built automated characterization systems for light diffusing fibers used in catheter-based photodisinfection technologies. My thesis focuses on developing a robotic goniometer platform for precise spatial and angular light distribution analysis, improving measurement reliability and efficiency in device development.I\'m particularly interested in how laser-based systems can move from laboratory prototypes to robust clinical technologies. My experience spans optical characterization, dosimetry, CAD-based prototyping, PCB design and Python-based automation. I focus on building systems that work reliably outside controlled environments. Before returning to engineering, I spent 2.5 years in IT consulting, where I developed strong project management and systems-level thinking skills. That experience now shapes how I approach R&D in a structured, collaborative and outcome-driven way.As I complete my Master\'s, I\'m looking to contribute to a team developing next-generation optical or laser-based medical technologies while continuing to grow under experienced engineers and expand my technical depth in biomedical photonics.
