ABOUT DAISY HESSENBERGER

As a Global Subject Matter Expert - Nature & Biodiversity at Arcadis, I provide thought leadership on the role of nature an specifically Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in working towards an improved quality of life. NbS are actions that protect, manage, and restore ecosystems, while simultaneously providing environmental, social, and economic benefits. Besides having worked on NbS for the last five years at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Arcadis, I have over seven years of experience in the field of plant sciences, with a PhD from the University of Cambridge.My passion for NbS stems from my international background, having lived in five countries and worked with diverse stakeholders. I have collaborated with businesses, NGOs, and solution providers to mobilize natural climate solutions, identify opportunities and barriers to investment, and share knowledge and technical capacity. I have also participated in a year-long leadership course and a three-week expedition to Antarctica, as part of a cohort of women in science, technology, engineering, medicine and mathematics (STEMM). My mission is to leverage my scientific expertise and communication skills to advance the scaling up of NbS and contribute to a just transition to nature positive future.My role at Arcadis also covers strategy, policy and solutions reseach, analysis and integration. This include working on global disclosure mechanisms such as the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the EU\'s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), in collaboration with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
