ABOUT DHARSHINI VELU

I am a passionate Biotechnology undergraduate with a strong interest in learning, innovation, and applying science to real-world challenges. Throughout my academic journey at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, I have actively worked to expand my knowledge through practical exposure, technical learning, and participation in academic events.I have completed two valuable internships that strengthened my understanding of industry and healthcare environments. I completed a 15-day internship at Aavin, Sholinganallur, where I gained insights into dairy processing, quality control, and industrial workflows. I also completed a 26-day internship at VHS Multi Speciality Hospital, where I was exposed to laboratory practices and healthcare diagnostics. These experiences provided me with hands-on exposure and helped me understand how theoretical knowledge is applied in real-world settings.Beyond internships, I actively participate in workshops, paper presentations, hackathons, and national-level symposiums. These platforms have helped me improve my research thinking, teamwork, and presentation skills while allowing me to collaborate with peers from diverse academic backgrounds. I strongly believe that such experiences are essential for developing innovative ideas and building professional confidence.I continuously focus on developing my personal and professional skills. Some of my key strengths include multitasking, time management, leadership, adaptability, and confident debate speaking. I enjoy taking initiative in team settings and contributing to discussions that encourage creative problem solving. I consider myself a brave and determined learner who is always ready to take on new challenges and explore opportunities that help me grow.I am also expanding my technical knowledge by learning programming and digital skills that can complement biotechnology in areas like data analysis, bioinformatics, and emerging technologies in life sciences.
