ABOUT DHANYA BABU
I serve as an adjunct lecturer in the International Criminal Justice program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Currently, I am pursuing a doctoral degree in criminal justice at John Jay/CUNY Graduate Center. My academic background includes two master\'s degrees, one in International Crime and Justice from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice and another in Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Madras, India. Additionally, I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Victimology and Victim Assistance from TIVI, Mito, Japan. Before coming to the United States, my career began as a human trafficking investigator for the International Justice Mission in India. My research is focused on enhancing the comprehension of gender-based violence by incorporating the perspectives of queer communities. My academic interests and publications span various areas, including the exploration of non-Western narratives in criminal justice, decolonial criminology, the study of caste-based gendered violence, intersectionality, and gendered policing. My work passionately advocates for an inclusive criminological approach to address harm and justice, ensuring it embraces the experiences of all individuals, groups, and communities.
