As the elected Software Lead for Team VAUV, I lead the development of mission-critical software systems powering our autonomous underwater vehicle for the TEKNOFEST Unmanned Underwater Systems Competition – Advanced Category.Key Responsibilities:🧭 Architected the software stack for the AUV, covering five layers:Hardware Abstraction → Low-Level Control (PID + State Estimation) → Perception → Behavior Planning → Application Layer (Dashboard/UI)🧠 Integrated ROS 2 and ArduSub via MAVLink for real-time vehicle control and telemetry. Led the design of a modular and testable codebase optimized for untethered deployment on Raspberry Pi/jetson orion with BlueOS. Developed custom solutions for gate detection and navigation using vision-based algorithms, leveraging stereo camera input. Managed CI/CD pipelines and in-simulation testing using Gazebo/Stonefish to validate control logic pre-deployment.Key Achievements: Successfully completed field trials with robust autonomous mission execution up to 12 feet underwater.
