ABOUT DAVID GOGEL

a startup executive, entrepreneur, writer, angel investor, and tech enthusiast passionate about building and scaling products at the intersection of finance and technology.I currently serve as Chief Operating Officer at dYdX Trading, the core development team behind the dYdX protocol — building open-source software for the world’s most powerful decentralized exchange. Previously, I was VP of Strategy & Operations at the dYdX Foundation.I am also the Founder and CEO of GogelX, a startup and media consultancy for founders. I have advised various teams developing NFTs, Web3 / crypto businesses, and fintech startups. I am also an active angel investor and startup advisor. In prior roles, I advised early-stage founders via the Techstars Blockchain accelerator to build and scale early-stage businesses.Throughout my career, I have repeatedly created opportunities for tech enthusiasts to interact and learn from each other, both online and offline. I am a published author with the World Economic Forum and contributed to thought leadership and I previously started a newsletter focused on growing the blockchain ecosystem in New York. I continue to write my thoughts on trends on social media and record podcasts on my blog. I was recognized as a Top 100 FinTech Influencer for Sustainable Development Goals. Through these experiences, I have established a robust network and developed relationships with 100+ founders, startups, and investors.I graduated from the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business at the University of Pennsylvania / Wharton School with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Chinese. I later worked in corporate development at AIG in New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong before pursuing my MBA back at Wharton in 2016, where I focused on entrepreneurship and operations. I became Co-President of Wharton FinTech and was involved with blockchain programming and the initial planning for the Penn Blockchain Club.I was born and raised in Paris, France, and consider myself a global citizen and polyglot. I speak English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese. I am obsessed with emerging technologies, exotic food, reading, traveling, podcasts, investing, snowboarding, boxing, music, and anything else that can enable my continuous growth and increase my productivity. I’m a pragmatic dreamer.
