About Devon James

I began my professional career with the Ithaca College Resource and Environmental Management Program organizing recycling initiatives on campus. The organizational skills I learned there helped me to be successful at my first job out of college, as a full-time Math Tutor with the University of Chicago. I worked in the south side of Chicago teaching algebra and geometry to ninth graders in my own classroom, formulating my own lesson plans and exams. I used this opportunity not only to teach my students qualitative skills in a S.T.E.A.M based field, but also to mentor many of them. As a man of color and Brooklyn native, I understand the role science and technology play in the future our community.I then worked as a Computer Engineer at Columbia University. Currently I am Security Solution Engineer at SMBC. I want to continue working in the field of recycling, sustainability, geology, technology, engineering and environmentalism.
