About Devon Calloway

For as long as I can remember, I feel like I’ve been living the best of both worlds and it all starts with where I’m from, Northridge, California. For those that don’t know, Northridge is located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. Some cities found west of Northridge are Calabasas, Westlake Village, and Thousand Oaks, home to many successful individuals who worked hard to get to the position that they’re in. On the contrary, some cities located east of Northridge are Pacoima, Lake View Terrace, and San Fernando which are needless to say, not the best environments to reside in with high crime rates and gang activity thriving heavily throughout these areas. I feel like being born and raised in Northridge explains perfectly who I am as a person, one who can adapt and thrive in the environment that they’re in regardless of the cards dealt to them and their surroundings. With adversity and life going hand in hand, I’ve faced many forms of adversity on my journey. One statement that stands out the most to me is my high school coach saying I’m not a Division One football player. To name a few more examples, at the height of my senior season while playing at a high level and gaining interest from numerous college coaches I dislocated my shoulder during the second to last regular-season game of the year. Lastly, I remember going through a rough patch in high school, getting into messes I had no reason being a part of and on the verge of being expelled. While looking back on it, I realized I could have called it quits a long time ago but I learned that success is on the other side of failure, and used these learning experiences to propel myself forward into the next chapter of my life. Now I’m here in the position I am currently in, a Division One football player taking advantage of all the opportunities given to me because I know what it feels like to lose it all. While living my dream as a top-tier collegiate athlete, I have learned numerous skills along the way. To name a few, time-management, being goal-oriented, teamwork, and analytic studying are just some of the many assets I’ve acquired during my time being here. How can I use this skillset to help propel your company in the direction it needs to be?
