This summer, I will conduct independent international research on bureaucratic and military intelligence, societal trust, and state power. My project will investigate how agencies and governments have historically targeted marginalized communities and how those actions have shaped long-term governance, public perception, and civil-state relations across distinct cultural and political systems.Through travel across East Asia and Europe, I aim to:• Examine the evolution of intelligence operations and surveillance in countries with histories of authoritarianism, occupation, war, or external interference• Explore how state institutions have eroded or rebuilt societal trust in the aftermath of intelligence-led repression• Compare historical case studies with current intelligence dynamics to understand their enduring effects on democracy, national security, and human rightsThis fellowship allows me to deepen my global perspective and strengthen my commitment to ethical leadership in the military and intelligence communities.
