A better world is always possible. It is currently in the making—every time we decide to educate ourselves to the truth, speak up, and break the status quo! As a radical lover of humanity, I am constantly challenging myself to become a better human being. This requires a deep level of self-awareness, self-reflection, discipline, and humility to unlearn the biases and prejudices I have internalized while living in the United States of America. Becoming a better human being means knowing that you have so much more to learn about the world—about the truth and reality we live in, despite the privileges that may be blinding all of our hearts and eyes. I am always eager to learn more, and I am never afraid to ask the difficult questions—both to myself, and to others around me. Though temporarily uncomfortable, asking these questions tends to bring people closer together than ever before—which is exactly what we need to start making the world a better place! After taking the time to deeply reflect on how I want to live my life on Earth before I am no longer on it, I decided to resign from my career at the National Security Agency (NSA) in pursuit of a career path that truly helps save lives: one centered around racial, economic, social, and environmental justice for Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC). Although this was a gigantic financial, physical, mental, and emotional sacrifice, it was a very straight-forward decision to make. Every individual struggle we face is ultimately tied to a collective struggle that millions of other people have been facing, within this country and beyond. Thus, we owe it to ourselves, our country, our world—our humanity—to keep fighting for a planet where every human being can live in safety, equity, happiness, dignity, and true freedom & liberation.
