About Devashish Nagpal

I’m a final-year Computer Science undergraduate with a strong interest in AI and building systems that create real-world impact. I’ve been an Exchange student at IIT Kanpur (2025) and IIT Gandhinagar (2024), where I explored core Computer Science, Machine Learning, and AI in research-driven environments. Alongside my coursework, I have prepared seriously for GATE, which strengthened my fundamentals in Linear Algebra, Calculus, Probability & Statistics, OS, DBMS, DSA, COA, TOC, and Computer Networks. Through internships in Machine Learning, AI, and Data Science, I\'ve worked on building NLP systems, LLM-based pipelines, and production-facing ML workflows at scale. My focus is on reliability, evaluation, and making models behave consistently in real-world settings. My latest work is an academic research assistance platform that processes research papers, builds retrieval pipelines over them, and uses LLM-based reasoning to answer grounded queries. It is a usable system with ingestion, chunking, embedding, and retrieval layers working together. My broader interests lie in LLM systems, retrieval-augmented architectures, and building AI systems that remain stable under messy conditions. I’m open to applied AI/ML roles, research collaborations, and conversations around building serious systems. Outside of tech, I’m usually up for a good chat about football. Let’s connect.

   Building a retrieval layer over long-form GATE course content by designing embedding pipelines and semantic indexing strategies. The goal is to break down lectures into structured, searchable segments and enable precise query-based retrieval using vector similarity search.A lot of the work involves dealing with messy real-world transcripts and making the system robust enough for production use.
