I hold a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Biju Patnaik University, Rourkela, Odisha, and completed my Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) training at GRSE, Kolkata. Since then, I have acquired comprehensive onboard experience, particularly in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the following systems and machinery: • Boilers, pumps, purifiers, main air compressors, and fresh water generators • Sewage treatment systems, refrigeration units, main and auxiliary engines • Emergency equipment including generators, compressors, lifeboat engines, SCBA, battery banks, and all firefighting systems (both portable and fixed) In my role as Second Engineer, my responsibilities included: • Safe and efficient execution of all maintenance and repair activities • Continuous monitoring and management of power consumption and distribution • Conducting regular drills and checks as per schedule • Maintaining reports, logbooks, and ensuring the engine room was in proper working order • Executing detailed handovers and supporting operational preparedness for all safety and emergency systems • Managing spares and inventory, ensuring critical parts were always available.
