ABOUT DEV PATEL

I am a Computer Science student at the University of West London with a strong passion for software development, network design, and building efficient, user-focused solutions. I enjoy transforming ideas into functional systems and continuously strengthening my understanding of programming principles, system architecture, and modern development tools.Throughout my academic journey, I’ve worked on a range of practical projects that have helped me gain real hands-on experience. I’ve designed and built Java- and Spring Boot–based applications, implemented database-driven systems using PostgreSQL and MySQL, and explored containerization and deployment using Docker. These projects have allowed me to apply core software engineering principles such as clean code practices, modular design, and scalable architecture. I’m particularly drawn to backend development, API design, and understanding how different components of a system interact.In addition to software development, I’ve deepened my knowledge of networking by designing and simulating multi-department company networks using Cisco Packet Tracer. This work has given me a strong understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, routing protocols, ACLs, DHCP, DNS, and network troubleshooting. I enjoy the logical structure of network engineering and how it connects directly with system performance and security.Beyond technical ability, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my leadership and communication skills as a Course Representative for over 200 Computer Science students. In this role, I work closely with faculty members to communicate feedback, improve module delivery, enhance academic resources, and ensure student concerns are addressed. This experience has strengthened my stakeholder management, organisation, and problem-solving abilities—skills that I believe transfer directly into collaborative software development environments.I’m always looking to grow, learn, and explore new technologies—whether that’s through hands-on projects, certifications, or building something new from the ground up. My goal is to continue developing my technical skills while contributing to meaningful software projects that challenge me and make a practical impact.I’m actively open to connecting with like-minded individuals, developers, and industry professionals.
