ABOUT LIONEL DE SOUZA E

Lionel has a masters degree in digital law and new technologies from the university of Paris (XI) and an LL.M in intellectual property and information technology from the University of Edinburgh. He also has a diploma in English translation from the Institut Supérieur d\'Interprétation et de Traduction (I.S.I.T.) in Paris and has been a French avocat since 2003. Lionel started his career as a lawyer and avocat in Paris advising on media law, information technology law, intellectual property law and company law. He joined Lovells in 2005 (which became Hogan Lovells in 2010) in the Intellectual Property Media and Technology Department working mainly on privacy and data protection (but also e-commerce, telecommunications, the drafting and negotiation of IT contracts, encryption regulation and the intellectual property aspects of information technology and the Internet.In January 2015, Lionel joined Atos as the group\'s Chief Data Protection Officer where he coordinated the group’s efforts to implement privacy and data protection principles and where he set up and defined the group’s strategy and efforts to prepare for the entry into force of the GDPR. Since April 2018, Lionel is Sanofi’s Group Chief Privacy Officer, coordinating the efforts of the company to achieve compliance with its privacy obligations globally, strategizing the approach to Sanofi’s privacy compliance and implementing the necessary tools and practices within the group.
