After a mere 6 years working with STR in which I have mainly been fulfilling the role of CFO we have agreed that I am now best described as Board Adviser. This is really a mentoring role and allows me to impart some snippets of experience to a talented next generation - but obviously not as talented, or humble and modest as me of course.

ABOUT DESMOND HIGH
I\'m an experienced commercial chartered accountant. Wide range of experience but get most pleasure (from a business perspective, obviously) from working in and alongside with ambitious growing businesses. I\'ve enjoyed a portfolio career since 1992 and that has embraced corporate strategy and value creation, business disposals, turnaround projects and non exec roles, as well as the part time FD ones. However, time marches on and I sold my shares and resigned my directorship in the multidisciplinary EMC consulting team at the end of April 2021 after 29 years. It was part of the succession planning and therefore retirement of a sort. Hadn\'t fully run out of puff and I continue to work with a small number of existing contacts. Perhaps no surprise given my advanced years but much of what I am now doing centres on the succession management issues which are hitting my near contemporaries. I am not actively seeking new roles, but remain on here in case it attracts offers of huge fees in exchange for little or no activity. And yes, I still believe in Father Christmas.
