About Mike Derrico
I\'m an Instructional Designer and College Professor with experience across a variety of design disciplines, including Graphic Design, User Experience Design, and Learning Management Systems. Currently, I\'m the Music Department Chair, Director of Music Technology & Composition, and Associate Professor of Music and Computer Science at Albright College, where I design, develop, and teach online and in-person courses in Music Technology, Music Industry, Game Design, User Experience Design, General Education Humanities, and Music Composition. As a specialist in emerging software and digital media, I\'ve presented my research to international audiences at conferences and workshops related to music, interactive media, and the entertainment industries. In addition, I\'ve worked as a project manager and UX designer serving clients in higher education, academic publishing, and online learning initiatives. My recent book, Push: Software Design and the Cultural Politics of Music Production (Oxford University Press, 2022), thinks through how trends in software and digital instrument design influence hip-hop, electronic dance music, and video game audio.
