Derrick is a Purchasing/Procurement Specialist with 15+ years of progressive experience in the procurement of capital goods within the manufacturing arena. Throughout his career, he has consistently been recognized for his innovation and leadership in planning inventory control, proactively resolving issues, reducing costs and consistently exceeding key performance objectives.For the last 16+ years, Derrick has assumed increasing levels of responsibility for Masonite International, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of interior doors and entry door systems. Since Nov. 2012, Derrick has worked as the Senior Central Planner/Buyer where he maintains direct responsibility for the tactical execution of centralized buying to meet the needs of various sites while meeting inventory targets and simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. He has been recognized for his ability to drive total cost of ownership (TCO) through enforcement and use of national agreements and supplier relationship management on issues and inventory requirements. From Mar. 2005 to Nov. 2012, Derrick served as the Central Procurement Manager overseeing the purchasing of raw materials from 10 to 16 locations by import and domestically. He was a key member of the procurement team with a $306M annual spend, maintaining direct responsibility over $78.8M of that total spend. Prior to his most recent experience, he held the position of Plant Manager from Nov. 2003 to Mar. 2005 spearheading the hiring and training of supervisors and managers including five direct reports and over 100 employees and managing monthly sales of $300K to $400K. Derrick worked as the Operations Manager from Feb. 2003 to Nov. 2003 managing a group of 5 supervisors responsible for maintaining an output of 1300+ on various door lines daily. He began his career as a Lead Material Handler in May 1996 and also held positions as a Customer Service Manager and Sales Service Coordinator.
