About Derran Cobb
My love for sports developed at a young age, as I was an active participant in many of them. After ending my playing days, I knew I wanted to stay with it, so I ventured into sports journalism. This is when I found a passion for storytelling. Since then I have become an award-winning student journalist writing and reporting for The Ball State Daily News covering Ball State sports, primarily the Men\'s Basketball team, the Indiana Pacers and the WNBA. In addition to writing print and online articles, I have experience in live coverage. My senior year I became the Associate sports editor. On the broadcast side, I have worked with Ball State PBS and NewsLink Indiana as a reporter, director, and news anchor. I spent Summer 2024 as a sports intern with Wish-TV in Indianapolis. As a social media specialist, I have managed the School of Journalism and Strategic Communication and Daily News sports feeds on Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok. Additionally In my free time, I create and schedule content for social media and host a podcast, which involves recording, editing, and production done by me. My portfolio is linked below.
