About Deron Morton

Hi, I’m Deron Morton—born in Brooklyn and raised in Astoria, Queens. My journey has taken me through different roles, industries, and experiences, all shaping the educator and person I am today. I’ve worked as a lead teacher at Uncommon Schools and Central Queens Academy, where I’ve had the privilege of helping young scholars grow academically and personally. My work in education is rooted in a deep passion for building strong relationships and creating environments where students feel seen, heard, and empowered.Before entering education full-time, I spent 8 years working for the U.S. Postal Service and also held a role at JCPenney. Those years helped me develop a solid foundation in discipline, communication, and work ethic—skills I carry into every classroom and conversation.Academically, I started my college journey at LaGuardia Community College, earned my degree from Queens College, and I’m currently continuing my studies at Mercy University. Learning is a lifelong journey, and I always look for new ways to grow.Outside of work and school, I’m a big fan of R&B music—it’s my go-to for relaxing and resetting. I also enjoy working out and staying active, which helps keep me energized and focused throughout the week.Whether in the classroom, the gym, or just vibing to some classic tracks, I bring my full self to everything I do—with purpose, passion, and persistence.
