ABOUT DERL MCCRUDDEN

As part of the news leadership team at the AP I am helping craft strategic change to address our customers\' ever-changing digital needs. AP\'s content is seen by billions of people every day, and we deliver to newsrooms all over the world. Our work, with a clear commitment to dispassionate reporting created by eyewitness journalists who put themselves at the heart of stories, forms the bedrock of video, photos and text coverage of news events for broadcasters, digital sites and newspapers. A skilled broadcast and agency journalist, I have led and developed successful award-winning teams, devised and managed change, and defined strategic company objectives. As a team builder I have hired and grown talent, managed multi-million dollar budgets, and rebooted how a global news team works. In my career I have worked as a field news editor and producer, run insanely busy news desks, worked in hostile environments, programme edited network news broadcasts, and joined the launch team of a global broadcast channel. As a consultant I helped devise new workflows and production processes, formatted programme output and storytelling devices, reshaped newsrooms, relaunched two news channels - all while working in difficult environments. I am a leader, a team player, and a dad. Not necessarily in that order.
