About Derik Moore

I have over 15 years of experience devoted to learning and growing in the field of accounting. Currently, I work as a Principal Associate for Capital One a multinational financial services institution.I transitioned to Capital One due to their acquisition of Discover Financial Services and am currently operating in a reporting role.Prior to Discover I worked as a Senior External Reporting accountant for Itron, Inc. whose focus on optimization of resources can be used to describe me as well. I am able to solve problems using the resources I have been given to create better processes and procedures to improve the accounting or reporting product. Prior to joining Itron I was a Senior audit staff for Moss Adams LLP, who is consistently a top 15 accounting firm. At Moss Adams I was able to develop an understanding of the complete business process and to help companies both public and private to optimize their financial reports. This included at times preparing the financial statements and providing them to the company as part of our audit or review process. I am grateful for the experiences Moss Adams, along with other organizations I have worked at, have provided me to help me progress in my career.Outside working hours you will likely find me outdoors taking advantage of the beautiful world we live in whether it be hiking in the mountains or boating on a lake, spending time with my family in nature is always a priority.I am always open to connecting with new people and both providing and receiving help in progressing in the professional world.My skills include: SEC reporting, technical accounting research, creating and improving processes, general accounting processes including implementation of accounting guidance and daily accounting procedures.My program experience includes: Wdesk SEC reporting system, Oracle ERP products, Great Plains accounting system, proficient in Excel as well as other Microsoft office software programs.
