   As a Lead Engineer for Olsson, Derick leads the traffic design and analysis efforts on a variety of projects. This role requires collaboration with engineers, designers and technicians to complete project submittals on time and with a strong focus on the client\'s priorities and desired project outcomes. His experience includes traffic and transportation engineering primarily on state and city projects.Typical duties:• Preparation of traffic signal plans including wiring diagrams, phasing diagrams, timings, pay quantities and notes.• Develops construction sequencing and traffic control plan sheets.• Oversees signing and striping plan development, including special sign layouts and ensuring compliance with the MUTCD.• Designs lighting plans for mainline freeways, ramps, interchange areas, and arterial streets including post-top mounts, cobraheads, mongoose, high-mast lighting, underpass lighting, and bridge-pier mounts.• Geometric design layout in accordance with the AASHTO Green Book, ODOT\'s Roadway Design Manual, client objectives for the project, and the traffic operational analysis.• Traffic operational analysis of intersections, interchanges, ramp junctions, freeways, expressways, and arterial streets in accordance with Highway Capacity Manual.• Leads the preparation of reports/studies documenting the findings and recommendations from the traffic analysis, interchange justification report, and/or geometric design.Involved with both internal and external marketing/business development.• Preparation of cable barrier and guardrail layouts in accordance with Roadside Design Guide and ODOT criteria/standards.• Determines and maintains scope, planning and scheduling requirements of traffic design/analysis tasks.• Maintains a high level of technical expertise through the mentoring and training of staff.
