About Derek Wachter

I have grown up in a family that has been heavily involved in business and entrepreneurship in the Bismarck-Mandan community for 140+ years and counting. Starting with the Wachter Dray and Transfer Company in 1885, there has been five generations of family businessmen who have all been associated with various businesses in Bismarck. My siblings and I will be the sixth-generation to be involved. I was born and raised in Bismarck, ND. I played numerous sports growing up, with soccer and ice-hockey being my favorites. I graduated from Bismarck High School in 2016, and then from there I attended the University of North Dakota. During my time at UND, I was involved in intramural sports, and I was a member the of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. I graduated from UND in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. I am now currently living in Bismarck, learning the ins and outs of the family business. Although there has been, and still are numerous businesses that my family is involved in, my main goal is to learn the real estate land development business and go from there. Real estate has been a major foundation in our family and it has blessed us with many opportunities. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, sailing, traveling, and much more.
