ABOUT DEREK WARD

I thrive on building things from the ground up – whether that is a new team, a new challenge or using new technology – I am driven by the need to develop a strategy to get to the end result.I bring a focused drive to projects, looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge and apply insight and logic. I take a collaborative and evidence-based approach when making decisions, contemplating the strengths and weaknesses of the options presented. I relish the opportunity to devise an inventive solution for even the most arduous of problems. Over my career, I have worn several hats as an Application Developer, Systems Architect, Team Lead, and most recently, as a Director. I have led multi-disciplinary teams made up of Developers, Systems and QA Analysts, and Architects who have delivered new capabilities, as well as maintained existing operations.Others have described me as having excellent leadership skills, creating an environment that is enjoyable to work in, while still ensuring that the team is productive. I think of myself as someone who has a positive attitude which motivates people to do their best work. Expertise- exceptional understanding of technology and how it is used to solve current and future problems- building relationships within an organization and establishing important partnerships outside of it; and- planning and delivering of technology-based projects following iterative methods.
