About Derek Ensign

I am pursuing full stack engineering skills through General Assembly\'s Software Engineering Immersive. I love to build, learn, and find ways to continue to challenge myself in my career. At Accenture, I had the opportunity to work in business analytics and data modeling. I thrive in situations where I can solve problems and communicate my findings to both technical and business audiences.I previously graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. I chose this degree due to my love for problem solving and wanting to innovate solutions that would carry healthcare forward, and have a positive effect on many people across the world. In college, I spent some time mentoring high school students, and loved the direct effect I could have on them and on their success in life. As a result, I became a high school teacher for six years. I taught special education classes, a remedial math class, Chemistry, Physics and AP Physics. Through this experience, I honed communication skills to a variety of audiences. I believe that overall, I am a high energy, and positive team member that will inject enthusiasm and optimism into an organization.
