About Derek Abbey
As the President and CEO of Project Recover, I lead a team of volunteers, specialists, and professionals who are dedicated to locating and identifying American prisoners of war and missing in action from World War II and other conflicts around the world. With more than 20 years of experience in this field, I have overseen the successful discovery of dozens of missing Americans and coordinated with national authorities and families to honor their service and sacrifice.I am also a Marine Corps veteran, a scholar, and a coach, with a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies and an executive program certificate from Stanford University. My research and practice focus on the needs and experiences of the military population in higher education and post-service generativity. I am passionate about serving veterans and military-affiliated students to achieve their academic and professional goals and to have a positive impact on communities and society.
