Derek Thomson Chartered FCIPD is a Leadership Consultant and Executive Coach with over 30 years’ experience in leading, coaching, advising and developing people.Capitalising upon an early opportunity to develop expertise in coaching and facilitation whilst also pursuing his career in operational line management, Derek complements his past experience as an executive-level leader with fluency across a wide range of leadership development approaches and strategies to offer his clients a rare combination of qualities: an empathy for what it’s really like to be in senior leadership and the insight to help others get there, stay there, and flourish.Derek’s involvement in designing and delivering leadership development interventions stretches back to the early 1990s and includes- creating and facilitating senior executive development programmes and \"immersion experiences\"- building and leading international organisation-wide corporate change programmes, and- advising, coaching and mentoring teams and individual leaders, from Board Directors to “high potentials”, across a wide spectrum of personal and corporate development needs.Derek has worked across four continents. Clients include: Barclays, BlackRock, BP, Deutsche Post DHL, Ericsson, Genesys, GSK, Heineken, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft Foods, Lloyds Banking Group, Macquarie Group, Marks & Spencer, Mazda Motors, National Australia Group, Nissan, RBS/NatWest Group, Standard Life (ABRDN), Thomson Reuters, and Whitbread.Following a twenty year career in corporate leadership and the non-executive chairmanship of a large charitable trust, Derek established his consulting business in 2007 before later becoming a Partner with Pivot Leadership, the global consulting firm. Derek is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, holds a Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring and accreditation in various tools and instruments including the Hogan suite and MBTI.
