ABOUT DEREK LEWIS
Derek is the executive director of Greenville First Steps, a local non profit that uses public and private funds to build community partnerships to ensure that all children are ready for school. Derek serves as an elected member of the Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees. Derek also served on the United Way of Greenville County\'s School Readiness Council and Community Impact Cabinet. Derek is on the steering committee of the Greenville Non-Profit Alliance and a gubernatorial appointee to the SC Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children. Prior to working with First Steps, Derek was a program director and trainer with the YMCA of Greenville (from 1997 to 2008).
