Derek Johnson is now the President of Building BOSS, a company bringing Building Optimization Solutions and Services to commercial buildings. Derek’s mission is to provide an evolutionary path for existing building infrastructure to enable advanced technologies to take root and buildings to become smarter and more energy efficient. Today’s advanced technologies for optimizing energy consumption in buildings hold tremendous potential to reduce energy consumption while sustaining and improving occupant comfort, but face multiple and intertwined barriers to entry posed by the legacy infrastructure, operators and occupants of today’s buildings. Derek’s team of consultants, engineers and technicians work to identify, enable and implement simple, scalable and sustainable technologies and services to break down these barriers, delivering the perfect balance of tenant comfort, maintenance expense and utility expense in their clients\' facilities. Prior to joining Building BOSS, Derek has held diverse leadership roles driving innovation and operations within the advanced building automation, call center, electric utility and facilities management industries for organizations such as BuildingIQ, Bank of America, PPL Electric Utilities and the United States Air Force. Most notably he served as the Program Director for Bank of America\'s intelligent Command and Control Center (iC3) Program, delivering the design, deployment and operation of this ground breaking energy and maintenance management solution. His department delivered world-class remote monitoring, control and data analytics for over Banking Centers in 34 states. During his tenure with these disparate organizations, Derek had the tremendous opportunity to serve his country, community and coworkers, an ideal that he carries with him to every role he has the privilege to deliver.
