About Derek Helledy

I’m a Civil Engineering student at the University of South Carolina with a strong academic record (Dean’s List). I am motivated by solving complex problems, collaborating with others and opportunities to lead. I am a diligent, disciplined and focused as I pursue objectives. My experience ranges from hands-on grounds work to security operations and coaching youth athletes. As Secretary for USC Club Hockey, I manage schedules, special events, and support the growth of a new program. I also have entrepreneurial interests, co-founding a small summer business helped me grow my marketing and customer service skills. I thrive in environments where I can learn by doing, contribute to a team, and take initiative — whether in engineering, athletics, or community service. I’m currently seeking internships in civil engineering, construction, or project management to apply and expand my skills in real-world projects.
