ABOUT DEREK DAVIES

Derek Davies is currently the Vice President, Trading at Suncor Energy Inc. and is responsible to lead the strategic development, planning, operations and management of the trading business which spans Crude Oil, Refined Products, Natural Gas and Electricity. This includes both physical and financial trading. This leadership position within Suncor contributes directly to the development of strategy, culture within Trading and Supply, Trading and Optimization. Prior to Suncor, Mr. Davies held the position of Head of North American Power and Gas, responsible for Trading, Sales and Origination at Deutsche Bank. In addition to those duties, Derek was President of DB Commodities Canada Ltd. and Managing Director, Head of Commodities Canada at Deutsche Bank AG, Canada Branch. Prior to returning to Deutsche Bank, Mr Davies co-founded Sohkan Capital Management Inc. He was a Managing Director at UBS AG until 2008, where a portion of his time was spent in the UK as the Co-Head of their European Power, Gas and Emissions business. Prior to UBS, Derek held various management positions at Enron Canada Corp. He has over 19 years of experience in commodity trading and structured finance in energy and energy-intensive industries. Mr. Davies holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Queen’s University, a Master of Arts (Economics) degree from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from the University of Calgary.
