ABOUT DEREK COOPER MIAM

As a young man I was always fascinated with science and curious about technology. Since then, I\'ve added formal qualifications and many years of practical engineering experience to my youthful enthusiasm, and am delighted to say that the fascination and curiosity that first drove me in the direction of engineering are still fresh for me. I now apply them within my chosen field of technical communication - a vocation that might almost have been created especially for me. My enthusiasm and passion for this profession has prompted me to volunteer as the Chair of the UK’s largest annual conference on technical communication - TCUK.As a freelance and contract technical communicator I develop entire documentation projects for clients across a range of different industries. Whether I\'m working on a series of user or technical manuals, software help systems, or the structure for a training course, I take pride in producing results of a quality that exceeds client expectations, and that the target audiences find easy to use and understand.My voluntary roles as a STEM Ambassador and as an Enterprise Advisor for SEMLEP allow me to promote careers in engineering, science and technology to school students of all ages and diversities.
