About Deonte Young

Deonte Young serves as a Director of Student Services in Fairfax County Public Schools. In this role, he oversees a comprehensive school counseling program that ensures equity, access, and opportunity for all students. Young believes strongly in the power of building relationships, and creating a strong partnership between all stakeholders to help achieve student success. In his former role as a Systems of Support Advisor, he supported the school community by implementing targeted behavioral and academic interventions as well as social and emotional learning. Young has a demonstrated history of school counseling in the primary and secondary education levels. A native of North Carolina, now residing in Washington DC, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a master’s degree in Counselor Education (VCU), and a master’s degree in Education Leadership from George Mason University.
