An aspiring Explorer, Educator, Ted Talk speaker and Documentary presenter.I’m Deon Barrett, an adventure athlete and storyteller on a mission to inspire individuals to push beyond their limits, break systemic barriers, and uncover their true potential. After leaving the Army to follow my passion, I’ve devoted my life to creating opportunities for others to rise above challenges and rewrite their narratives, especially those who feel unseen or held back by societal expectations.Through The True North Project, I aim to empower people from all walks of life to step outside their comfort zones, connect with the outdoors, and embrace resilience. I share my own story as proof that adversity can shape us, not define us, and that representation matters. Whether summiting 12 mountains in four days or pulling a tyre 120 kilometers along the Thames Path, my challenges serve as metaphors for breaking through the limitations imposed by fear, doubt, and systemic barriers.As a Black man in outdoor spaces, I understand the importance of representation in inspiring the next generation. By sharing my journey, I aim to break stereotypes and show that adventure, endurance, and leadership are for everyone. My work focuses on building relatability, advocating for diversity, and creating pathways for others to overcome mental, physical, and societal challenges.My Mission: Inspire resilience and personal growth through storytelling and adventure.
