Denzel D. Burnside is an impactful change agent and strategic leader, currently serving as the Executive Director of the North Carolina Housing Table, where he leads statewide coalition efforts advancing housing affordability, zoning reform, and sustainable development. Under his leadership, the Table unites cross-sector partners in government, advocacy, and philanthropy to align housing, transportation, and climate goals—driving equitable policies that strengthen communities across North Carolina.Previously, Denzel served as the Associate Director of Methane Accountability at Climate Nexus, where he directed national strategies on corporate and state-level methane reduction. He led the Methane Accountability Strike Team’s 2023 strategy, coordinating advocacy campaigns targeting major energy corporations and supporting state implementation plans in Colorado, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and the Gulf South.Before joining Climate Nexus, Denzel spearheaded the Impacted Communities Against Wood Pellets coalition as North Carolina Policy Director & Campaign Manager at Dogwood Alliance. His leadership resulted in successful policy engagements with state departments and direct recommendations to the Governor’s Office, helping shape North Carolina’s environmental and equity agenda.In earlier roles, Denzel managed State Senator Annette Taddeo’s campaign in Florida, overseeing strategy, operations, and fundraising, and served as Lead Organizer and Media Specialist at New Florida Majority, where he designed programs addressing gun violence, climate resilience, and immigration reform.A Miami-Dade County native, Denzel actively collaborates with policymakers and community leaders, forging impactful partnerships that bridge grassroots advocacy with institutional power. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Florida International University, pursued Broadcast studies at Florida A&M University, and earned a Public Policy Certificate from the National Institute of Lobbying and Ethics. He also completed the Renew U.S. Campaign Manager Training Program and is a registered lobbyist.Passionate, driven, and visionary, Denzel D. Denzel is alumni of Florida International University (FIU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU), is currently rebuilding his Multi-Media and consulting company DB3 Media, Inc. and launching Ellie’s House CDC along with Ellie’s House Ministries, Inc. Burnside’s goal is to minister and fulfill spiritual needs of the millennial generation with a “down home southern gospel,” feel. He was born and raised in Miami-Dade County where he graduated from “Miami’s Mega Magnet,” Coral Reef Senior High School.As a polymath, his involvement focuses on social architecture and creative engineering; community engagement and activism, youth empowerment and mentoring, innovative education and political strategies, social media advocacy, public speaking, and economic development. While working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line as a Sales Representative, Burnside attended the American Black Film Festival on Miami Beach, and attended the Actors Boot Camp with legendary actor Bill Duke. At the event, he participated in the Nickelodeon Pitch Contest, and his was the first of more than 200 submissions to pitch AND receive payment on the spot for his premise of the cartoon “Danny Phantom,” instantly gaining the attention and respect of Nickelodeon executives, who asked Burnside to submit ideas for other shows and provided mentoring via their writing fellowship program.BIO:
