About Denny Matheou

I am Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with a civil & environmental engineering background and over 17 years professional experience in the fields of occupational health and safety, environmental consulting, construction management, and regulatory compliance. As the EHS Manager for Cuyahoga County, I have been working to build a safety culture through employee engagement and advancement of EHS processes & training programs, with the goal of improving occupational safety outcomes and ensuring regulatory compliance for County facilities & operations. Previous to Cuyahoga County, I was part of the corporate environmental health & safety group at the Lincoln Electric Company. In my role at Lincoln Electric, I supported manufacturing facilities throughout the US and internationally in their EHS functions. As part of this role I regularly visit, audit, and partner with site-based representatives to support their EHS systems and best practices. I also worked to establish and maintain tools, data resources and metrics for Lincoln’s facilities and stakeholders to utilize for their facilities.Previous to Lincoln Electric, I worked as a field safety consultant on land-based drilling rigs with Chevron throughout western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. In this role, I led the process safety management and behavior-based safety programs for my sites. This included the development and use of JHAs, work permits, safety coaching & training, and field audits. Additionally, I’ve worked five years as an environmental and safety consultant for industrial, manufacturing, and oil & gas clients through ERM and Kelly-Buck Company.
