ABOUT DENNY THOMAS

Mechanical Engineer with more than 15 years of experience in pipe stress analysis of lines connected to heat exchangers, pressure vessels, columns, pumps, air-coolers, storage tanks, racks, flare header with PSV’s, trunk lines, gathering lines, blow-down lines and district cooling chilled water networks. In addition, involved in FEED of blow down pipeline involving hydraulic analysis, stress analysis, surge analysis and related concept design to as-built stage. Technical expertise:• Analysis of buried pipelines by calculating soil stiffness (using CAESAR II basic model & ALA soil models) and to check for the requirement of thrust blocks. • Selection of expansion joints.• Preparation of load cases under different loading conditions. • Nozzle auxiliary analysis using WRC 107/297. • Have basic knowledge of dynamic analysis (Modal, Earthquake response spectrum, Relief & Transient modules) using CAESAR-II tool. • Offshore FPSO module pipe stress analysis and transportation analysis. • Blast analysis. • Tunnel piping stress analysis and selection of expansion joints. • Selection and sizing of spring hangers, rigid supports types & struts. • Flange leakage check• Trunnion load check.• Pump Alignment check. • GRP/FRP (an-isotropic material) pipe stress analysis using ISO14692. • Preparation of stress report & stress isometrics. • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and surge analysis of incompressible flow using AFT. • Have good knowledge in ASME B 31.3 code. Also worked with codes like ASME B 31.1, ASME B 31.8, ASME 31.4, ASME NC, API 610, API 661, API 650, API RP 520, DNV-RP-D101, ISO 14692 etc.
