About Dennis Burns

Dennis Burns, CAPP is a nationally recognized parking expert in parking and mobility consulting and management experience with practical hands-on management experience in healthcare, municipal, airport and other environments. This direct parking management experience enables him to understand functional and operations issues from the customer\'s perspective. In the past several years, Dennis has made municipal parking programs a special area of focus. He has led national parking system research and analysis efforts in the areas of organizational development, economic development strategies, strategic planning, and branding and marketing program development. Dennis has extensive expertise in the development and operation of transportation systems to complement parking operations, as well as transportation demand management strategies designed to reduce overall parking demand. Dennis has served on numerous boards during his career, including multiple state and regional associations and six years as an International Downtown Association Board Member. He also speaks extensively on parking system technological advancements and related management applications and is a regular contributor to the International Parking & Mobility Institute’s publications. In 2010 Dennis was honored as IPMI’s Parking Professional of the Year and in 2021 Dennis was presented with IPMI’s Life Time Achievement award. Dennis retired at the end of 2022.
