ABOUT DENNIS BROWN

I am the park ranger supervisor for Denver Mountain Parks, a division of City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation. I manage a force of 12 rangers and two who protect the public and resources over the acre Denver Mountain Park system. I also manage the Chief Hosa Campground which is a part of the system. Denver Mountain Parks was founded over 100 years ago by the citizens of Denver with park land in 4 counties outside of the City and County of Denver. This would include Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, a National Historic Landmark, Summit Lake Park on Mt. Evans, a National Natural Landmark, Genesee Park with one of the two herd of bison in the system and Lookout Mtn Park, home to the Buffalo Bill Museum and Pahaska Teepee. The Denver Mountain Park Headquarters in Morrison, CO is the home of SP-13-C, the most intact Civilian Conservation Corp camp left in the U.S. This wide-ranging area necessitates maintaining a close working relationship with several other law enforcement and emergency response agencies. As a part of the larger Denver Park Ranger program leadership, I assist with hiring and training of seasonal and full-time rangers. As a trainer, I instruct ranger in non-escalation and de-escalation techniques as well as enforcement management. The Denver Park Ranger program deploys 30-30 urban rangers as well as the Denver Mountain Park contingent.
