About Deniz Şınar
I received my B.S. in Biological Engineering from Cornell University, with a focus in synthetic biology research. I am dedicated to the purposeful engineering of biology. My goals include applying synthetic biology-based solutions to problems in environmental sustainability. I have gained lab experience in the Barstow Lab at Cornell, a synthetic biology internship with LanzaTech (Summer 2022), and an internship at The Joint BioEnergy Institute (Spring 2024). I have also participated in Cornell\'s iGEM team for four academic years, serving as Wet Lab Member in 2020, Safety Lead + Wet Lab Co-Lead in 2021, Team Lead in 2022, and Advisor in 2023.I believe education is crucial for inspiring the next generation of bioengineers. I\'ve played a role in bioengineering/synbio education as Head TA for BEE2600 Principles of Bioengineering & TA for BEE3600 Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering and through guest lectures in Cornell\'s BME1310 class and Cornell Splash.I\'m continuing my dedication to promoting synthetic biology as a 2023 iGEM Ambassador for North America as well iGEM Community Project Head for the Global BioArt Competition.
