ABOUT DENIZ GUELAL
I am strongly motivated by the mathematical foundations of machine learning, with a particular emphasis on theoretical questions arising in natural language processing. My current work focuses on representation learning in NLP, especially contrastive and self-supervised objectives and on understanding how these objectives interact with the structural and geometric properties of language data.My research lies at the theory–practice interface. I combine mathematical tools such as analysis, spectral methods, information-theoretic principles and geometric perspectives with experimental analysis to develop explanations of representation behavior in high-dimensional language models.
