ABOUT DENIS GRIS
As a Principle Investigator, I have established a laboratory in the field of biomedical research. In particular, I am interested in mechanisms of inflammation-induced behavioral changes, neuronal death, neuro-immunology, and behavioral neuroscience. • Throughout my career, I always have maintained the teaching component as a necessary part of my work. I have extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and medical school levels. • I am proficient in the fields of neuroscience, autoimmune disorders, and inflammation of the CNS. I routinely train personnel to independently design and perform in vitro and in vivo experiments. I have in depth knowledge of neuron, macrophage, microglial, astrocyte, neutrophil, T cell, and dendritic cell biology. • At the molecular level, I am interested in the pathways that regulate cellular responses to the changes in environment. In particular, I am investigating the role of NOD-like receptors in the CNS tissue inflammation. • I am proficient in animal work including behavioral assessment, automated behavioral assessment, analysis of video recording, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, and ischemia reperfusion injury. I have strong expertise in working with genetically modified mice. My expertise includes managing large numbers of murine colonies and designing specific genetic crosses. • I routinely use R programming for analysis of large behavioral data sets, which we obtain through Clever Sys Inc. software. • I possess excellent communication skills, which allow me to obtain funding for my laboratory and effectively present my research to scientific community in the form of scientific papers, oral presentations, poster presentations, and lectures. I organized several international symposia in the filed of inflammation and mitochondrial biology.
