With more than 3 decades of diverse experience in journalism, nonprofit, and government sectors, I have developed a range of skills and competencies that enable me to help others achieve their goals through writing, storytelling, effective communication, messaging, public speaking, and fundraising. I’m the founder and president of Stand Up Inc, a consulting company that works hand in hand with professionals, candidates, and students to turn possibilities into successful achievements. As a certified fundraiser and grant writer, I’ve raised millions of dollars for various causes and campaigns, using my expertise in marketing, writing, editing, and media. As a keynote speaker, I deliver engaging and memorable presentations on topics such as women’s and children’s issues, overcoming adversity, journalism, women in the workplace, succeeding against the odds, and behind the scenes of state government. As a former State Representative, I collaborated with a bi-partisan network of legislators and advocates to support legislative priorities that improved the lives and protected the rights of all people. I am passionate about making ideas happen and empowering others to do the same.
