fisherhousewi.orgA Fisher House is a \"home away from home\" for military and veterans\' families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. Currently, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans are traveling to the Milwaukee VA medical center for treatment of their wounds and injuries. Veterans and their families living beyond 50-miles from the Milwaukee VA hospital are eligible to stay for free at the Fisher House if they need to overnight.The Fisher House program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and ensures that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Due to this need, the future Milwaukee home will be one of the largest built in the United States of America.
