ABOUT DENISE JACKSON

I am responsible for planning and executing events and programs related to the mission of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance. I also oversee strategy and planning of meetings and special events (both internal and external events), as well as coordinate all amenities and accommodations. As a team player within the organization, I currently assist with the development and creation of marketing materials, news releases.I have more than 25 years of experience in tourism and advertising with a specialization in group and sports sales, creative partnerships, FAM tour planning and hosting, event management, tradeshow representation and follow-up, and industry partnerships.I have worked with discoverLynchburg, which was honored with 23 state and national awards, many of which directly involved my work. In 2012, I was recognized as a key member of the “Sales Team of the Year” for increasing closed group sales contracts almost 1500% in three years. I have traveled throughout the U.S. representing Lynchburg, Virginia and the region at trade shows, media conferences, and events. I was a member of Virginia Tourism Corporation’s Sports Virginia which promotes Virginia as a top destination for sporting events. Prior to working at discoverLynchburg, I was Vice President at Lovern Advertising. Professional development and continuing education is a priority and I strive to continue to earn certifications and accreditations in economic develoopment. I have earned designations in: Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College’s Tourism Marketing Professional, a graduate of Destination Marketing Association International’s Sales Academy, and earned my Certified Sports Event Executive designation through National Association of Sports Commissions.
