ABOUT DENIS TURCU

I study Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience. I am interested in how biological and physical constraints shape neural circuit solutions to complex, naturalistic problems. For my main PhD work, I combined Neural Networks, physical modeling and collaborators’ experimental recordings to shed light on sensory processing, specifically in active electrosensation. My other projects involved sparse Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), graph-theory, spike sorting, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and neural mechanisms for language production.Outside my studies, I enjoy various activities such as soccer, tennis, snowboarding, surfing, videography, photography, astrophotography, guitar, dancing, painting and others.
