About Denis Sullivan

I am the Practice Group Leader for Barclay Damon\'s Intellectual Property Group, which includes Intellectual Property Litigation, Patents and Prosecution, and Branding, Trademarks, and Copyrights. I counsel clients on all aspects of intellectual property, including serving as lead counsel in patent and trademark infringement disputes (in federal district court and at the International Trade Commission), patent and trademark office proceedings (including reexaminations and inter partes reviews), and the preparation of patent and trademark applications. My extensive experience as both a patent litigator and a patent prosecutor provides the skill set needed to represent clients in proceedings challenging and defending patents. After graduating from college first in my engineering class with a degree in electrical engineering, I worked as a licensed professional engineer for several years before attending law school. This technical background enables me, as a registered patent attorney, to handle patent matters in a wide variety of technologies and industries (e.g, remote visual inspection, endoscopes, borescopes, optics, nondestructive testing, ultrasonic inspection, eddy current, spectroscopy, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, flow meters, medical devices, mechanical devices, electrical power, solar power, batteries, turbines, generators, energy management, utilities, coaxial cable connectors, CATV filters, chemical compositions, digital audio (DVDs, MP3), automotive airbag modules, and software). I also graduated first in my law school class before beginning my legal career as an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Department of Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York. I then moved my practice to an intellectual property boutique in Central New York, where I became managing partner before joining Hiscock & Barclay (now Barclay Damon) in 2011.
