ABOUT DELFÍN W. BAUTISTA
As a social justice advocate and religious professional, I am passionate about working with and for others in creating spaces that not only affirm individuals but celebrate our whole personhood with its richness and complexity. Through various advocacy experiences, I have strengthened my abilities to lead, organize, research, and facilitate community presentations on various issues such as clinical/mental health approaches to social justice campaigns, trauma resolution for survivors of relational/sexual violence, approaches to sexuality from the perspective of communities of color, and how to transform religious values into progressive social action. My experiences have taught me how to engage the media, plan last minute events effectively and efficiently, how to create communication plans, and how to foster relationships with multiple sectors of society including church groups, schools, and local civic organizations. Over the last 20 years, my experiences have helped me develop an intersectional and integrated approach to social justice and identity that recognizes both how oppressions are interlinked and the mutual rippling effect among dynamics of liberation. Specialties: bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish), public speaking, workshop creation and facilitation, community outreach, community organizing, research, balancing theory and praxis, leadership development, diversity education, intersectional and queer pedagogies, liberation theologies, faith-based social justice, liturgy creation, preaching, prayer, trauma informed pedagogy My diverse background has allowed me to develop a framework for engaging research, education, and programming with individuals and groups in an inclusively holistic fashion taking into account the personal, cultural, social, emotional, clinical, and spiritual aspects of individuals and communities.
