ABOUT DELANEY SWINK

I am a University of Oregon, Robert D. Clark Honors College alumna with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (International Nonprofit Management) and Romance Languages (Spanish and French). Before graduating from the UO, I defended my thesis “Morocco\'s Islamic Feminism: How Social Movements, Political Reform, and Reinterpretations of the Quran Shape Gender Justice in Morocco\" and passed with the highest honors. After finishing my degrees, I accepted a grant from the American Translation Association to pursue an ongoing poetry translation project from Spanish into English. With the funding from this grant, I traveled to Chile to work closely with the poet whose work I am translating, with intentions of publishing a bilingual second edition of the poetry collection. I then traveled around the US for ten weeks in a minivan, covering 9,400 miles, 46 cities, and 6 National Parks. Now, I am Volunteer & Development Coordinator at the Albuquerque-based New Mexico Immigrant Law Center (NMILC). NMILC\'s mission is to advance justice and equity by empowering low-income immigrant communities through collaborative legal services, advocacy, and education. In my position at NMILC, I enjoy engaging with volunteers and rethinking traditional nonprofit development practices in an effort toward community-centric fundraising.
